Meet Valerie

Valerie Ann Knies has spent her lifetime singing hymns.

She has sung in churches in almost every state in the United States and over 30 countries. During her many years of Christian walk, Valerie has developed a love for the old hymns of the faith which resulted in her two hymn collections. People of all ages will enjoy this inspiring and spiritual music, which has become a favorite to many families. She recently completed singing a new album featuring several professional accompanists with the theme of songs of prayer. This interactive recording will challenge people to pray and meditate as they walk with the Lord. The Hungarian Men’s Quartet CD is a joy to hear.

The versatile, tranquil voice of Valerie Ann Knies beautifully sings these collections of sacred music that will provide the listener great opportunity for worship, meditation and inspiration

Valerie, who has been a soloist since her teenage years, continues to sing often in many stateside churches and on the mission field. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and Master’s Degree in English Bible. She majored in classical and sacred saxophone and plays several wind instruments. She has taught elementary band and choir. Valerie was the church music director in Pécs, Hungary for many years, teaching and mentoring Hungarian musicians in local church ministry.

She and her husband, Jim, and their three children have served as missionary church planters in Southeast Asia and have been in Hungary for 17 years. Their church plant in Pecs has recently become completely under Hungarian leadership and has begun a new ministry. Jim and Valerie are presently planting a new church in Budapest (click here for more information and pictures). Valerie continues to have opportunity to sing in English and Hungarian. She would be delighted for you to make any or all of these Christ-honoring recordings an addition to your music library.

Valerie's Personal Testimony

Valerie's story of how she came to know the Lord

My father was a religious man, but no one had ever shared with him the Bible truth of the gospel. My mother had no interest in spiritual things. After children were born, my father took my toddler sister and I to services at his church.

At the age of four, I asked my mother a question about God, to which she had no answer. She called the church to find out if there was a class for children that could deal with my inquiries. The next Sunday my father began a quest to find a church with a Bible teaching program for children. In the next month, he never tried the Baptist church that was only a short walk from our home. After discovering our special family need, our neighbor offered to take my sister and me to Manor Baptist Church in San Leandro, California. After three years of faithfully attending Sunday School and our neighborhood Good News Club, I finally understood the gospel.

One night, I was alone in my room saying the evening prayer that my father had taught me,
“Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep,
If I should die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take.”

My young heart realized that evening, that saying a poem would not provide a home in heaven. The Lord helped me understand that I was a sinner, on my way to eternal damnation in hell, and that He had paid the price for my sin when He shed His blood the cross. I knew and believed Jesus Christ had risen from the dead on Easter morning 2000 years before. I realized He could forgive my sins, make me His own, and give me a home in heaven after I died. Hence, with the faith of a seven-year-old child, I prayed that night and asked the Lord to come into my heart and save me from my sins and give me a heavenly home. As God promised in Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” He answered my prayer. I can honestly say there has never been a doubt about my personal relationship with Christ. With confidence, I look forward to the day I will live with Him eternally in heaven.
