Bori Horváth

My parents were believers. They read the Bible and taught us children as well. I spent my school age years far from my parents. I studied in a boarding school where different pressures touched me and affected my spiritual life. As an adult, I grew much further away from God. The baptism of my son brought a change in my life.

I took out the Bible again. Following my son’s explanations and teachings I started to read it again. Sometimes I went to church. My son was the one that showed me that for my entire life I had wrongly thought that good works had saving power. He showed me from the Bible the message and the plan of salvation. He explained the importance of salvation. Through the preaching at church about the opportunity for eternal life, I understood the immeasurable love of God.

Slowly, I experienced the work of God in my heart. Through the Holy Spirit, I started feeling strongly that I need to decide and accept this free gift. In the year 2000, on Christmas day, I got saved. I became the child of God and I received eternal life. With great relief and happy rest, I took my first step toward the Christian life. Ever since my salvation I go to church every opportunity and read my Bible every day. My thinking patterns have changed. I am much more settled, tolerate things better and relax. I worry less, which frequently happened in my long and troublesome life.

As in every Christians’ life, naturally, I have problems and trials; but the Bible, the preaching, my son, and the church are a great assistance to me. They teach me that in the hard times, I need to lean on God and trust in His helping grace.
