Emilia Rakovics, Jr.
I had an
ideal childhood. Until I was 12, I lived in a hunting lodge in a beautiful
setting almost totally isolated from the world. I was brought up in a
loving way. My parents taught me how to do good and I thought I was good.
When I was 12, we moved to Hungary’s most beautiful city, Pécs.
Unfortunately, at that time my child spirit was corrupted. I figured out
that I was not innocent and I was more curious about evil. My mother was
worried about me. She knew what I needed. She brought me to a place where
I could learn good things. I met people who found joy in things different
from most people, and they were happy. From them I found out what I needed
to do to be saved. Nevertheless, I rejected Jesus Christ calling for a
long time. How did I know if the Bible was true? I couldn’t even believe
the first few pages of the Holy Word, as I had learned evolution. I
believed the scientists surely know what they are talking about. I had
many questions. The Bible’s teaching seemed very nice, but what was the
guarantee that this is the absolute truth? Is the rest of the Bible just
legend? How does God know my heart? Does He know what kind of doubts I
have? The Lord sent a preacher who addressed the questions I was asking in
my heart, even though this man did not know me. God was eternally gracious
to me. He turned my heart toward Him and my thoughts and will. I did not
need any hypnotism nor an ecstatic experience. He just simply convinced me
of the truth through the Bible and gave me faith. The words of Paul
perfectly fit me in the letter he wrote in Romans 10:17, “Faith cometh by
hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” In tears, I confessed my sins to
the Creator of the world. I accepted the saving mercy of Jesus Christ.
Does the God of the universe pay attention to the insignificant words of a
child? Absolutely. His will is that I should come to Him. After I was born
again according to the Word of God, I received much more than I thought –
eternal life, peace, and joy. God became my heavenly Father. Jesus is my
best Friend and the Holy Spirit is my every comfort. What else do I need?
Every day in every situation, I depend on Him because I believe that He is
taking care of me. This verse from the Bible is the motto of my life:
Romans 1:17 – “The just shall live by faith.” |
