Szilard Nagy

Before my salvation, I did not know anything about God. I did not want to know anything about Him. I lived my life the same way as many young people my age. I was interested in the same things as them, and the same things were important to me. I agreed with the teachings and philosophies of the world.

At the same time in my life, I could not solve many problems through my own power. I realized that every man had problems, not just me. Every man has unsolved problems in their life, in their relationships, work place, etc. The world does not know the answer to these questions. I would like to emphasize an important question that greatly interested me, to which the world does not know the answer. That is death and the questions that are tied to it. For example, what happens after death? Why do we need to die? What is our purpose in life, etc? When these unanswered questions welled up in me, God saw my need and worked in my life. At this time, I worked in Budapest and came home on the weekends. My very good friend, Béla Horváth, was studying in the Engineering University and went home on the weekends as well. On Sundays, we traveled together on the train. I heard about God for the first time from him. I heard about the Bible, of Jesus Christ, of hell and of heaven. At first, I really did not like that my friend thought about these things. However, the more we talked about this subject, I noticed that he knew the answers to my unanswered questions, and the source of the answers was the Bible. I realized that I was a creation of God, and the reason for problems and death is sin. I saw the importance of Jesus’ death on the cross, and that He paid the penalty for my sins to God with His death. I understood that if I accepted this personally, then God would forgive my sins. In this way, my relationship would be put in order with God, and I would not need to go to hell because of my sins, but He would give me a place in heaven.

On November 25, 2000, I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior, which means I got saved. Since my salvation, God has worked greatly in my life. He does not leave me alone in my sin. He helps me to realize it and free myself from it. I can live a much happier life, full of joy, because He is with me every day. I have received the gift of eternal life, which means I can go to heaven.
