Zoltán Kiss, Sr.

My name is Zoltán Kiss (Kish). I grew up in a Catholic family. After my confirmation, I did not really go to church. I thought it was enough that I worked for my family and I was not lazy. I did not do anything against the law; therefore, I did not think I was any worse than any of my friends. Through my mother, I came to know about the church where she brought my children every Sunday.

At home, my two young children started singing Christian songs and they invited me several times to go with them to church. When at last I decided to go, I felt very good. However, when I heard the gospel several times, I understood that I was a sinner and that if I did not do anything, I would go to hell. I also understood that Jesus died for my sins on the cross, and that if I accept His forgiveness and salvation, and accept Him into my heart, He would forgive me and I would be saved.

After one of the preaching services, I raised my hand and indicated that I wanted to be saved. With Gedeon Oláh, we searched out a quiet corner in the children’s room. There, he showed me from the Bible how someone can accept Jesus in their heart. We prayed together. I confessed my sins to the Lord Jesus and He forgave them and moved into my heart. After this, I was certain I would go to heaven. After salvation, my life changed because I understood that I should not compare myself to others, but I should follow Jesus Christ’s example, which is a very high standard. I needed to forsake many of my habits which I had before my salvation, and do new things in place of the old. These changes came very hard, but I understood what a wonderful privilege God gave us through prayer, that we can ask His power in every situation for us and others. I can say that the Lord answered my prayer requests many times, strengthening me and teaching me. I started studying the Bible continually, because I understood that God’s Word in these days gives instruction to every life situation. It has good teaching so that I may choose the right things. I understood that the Christian life is a continual growth in the Lord, and being an ambassador. Through the gospel, I must reach my unsaved family members, workmates, and the people I know or people I don’t know, so that they will accept Jesus Christ in their hearts. With these newly saved, we will be multiplied in heaven.
